ERAM Uganda Limited marked 30 years of service to Uganda’s livestock sector on Thursday, with the Ministry of Animal Industry calling on the company to continue investing in research, local manufacturing, and the training of future veterinary professionals.
Speaking at the anniversary event at ERAM’s new head office on Hoima Road-Bakuli, Lt. Col (Rtd) Bright Rwamirama, Minister of State for Animal Industry, lauded ERAM for its role in enhancing animal health and livestock productivity.
He urged the company to maintain its high standards of quality and ethical practice while fostering innovation that benefits farmers and the wider agricultural sector.
“For three decades, ERAM has supported our livestock industry through quality products, technical expertise, and sustainable health solutions,” Rwamirama said.
"As you mark this milestone, I encourage you to invest further in research and in nurturing the next generation of veterinary professionals."
ERAM, founded in 1995 by Edward Muhigirwa, Richard Mucunguzi, and Dr Alice Hope Banga, was Uganda’s first veterinary pharmacy incorporated through the National Drug Authority.
From a small shop in Container Village, the company has grown into a national leader in veterinary and pharmaceutical solutions, serving farmers, veterinarians, and healthcare professionals across the country.
Managing Director Muhigirwa emphasized the company’s mission, saying, “Our focus remains clear: to provide trusted, science-based solutions that promote healthier animals, healthier people, and a healthier Uganda.”
Dr Banga, director of finance and administration, highlighted ERAM’s commitment to professional development, noting that the company has invested in training programs to build technical expertise in veterinary care.
“We are proud of our journey, our partnerships with global manufacturers, and our role in advancing veterinary knowledge in Uganda," she said. "We are excited about what the future holds for innovation in animal health.”
The anniversary also celebrated ERAM’s new head office, symbolizing three decades of resilience, growth, and dedication to Uganda’s livestock sector.
